Animal print lingerie picks for when you want to let your primal side show

I’ve been on a bit of a shopping binge lately. I’ll decide whether or not that’s a good thing at the end of the month when the credit card bill comes.

One of the items I have yet to own is a cute item of animal print clothing. I’m not one to buy a whole lot of clothes or have a wide variety of undergarments. Somehow without planning to be, I’ve become some sort of a wardrobe minimalist.

So why animal print lingerie? I don’t know. It can be a little corny—how many times have we witnessed an awkward love scene in a comedy film where one or both partners is donning something in animal print, signalling to the audience that they’re about to get it on? The link between animal print and sex has been long established, and it’s not going away.

Animal print can also be a way to signal boldness, or confidence. After all, what could be more confident than the big cats? Tigers, lions, jaguars, panthers, leopards and cheetahs are all majestic creatures that are fierce and command respect and reverence from humans and animals alike.

Hoping to embody some of this fierceness, I decided to go on the hunt (ha!) for some animal print lingerie. That’s usually not a big deal, or the type of thing that really warrants an in-depth review. But the more I dug around, the more I realized it was actually sort of difficult to find animal print bras and lingerie that could accommodate larger cup sizes.

I decided to curate a list of items that I thought were super cute and have animal print on them. In the case of the bras, of course I was on the lookout for things that were ultimately supportive and stylish. When it came to the lingerie, I was looking purely at style, with support being a secondary focus.

A couple of things that I noticed—there were lots of websites that sold animal print lingerie for plus size and full-figured women that I’d never heard of. There were definitely a few styles that I loved from most of these lesser-known sites, and some of them actually made my shortlist. In the end, I decided to give items from these sites the chop, because I read a lot of sketchy reviews about everything from customer service, to delivery and payment, and everything in between. I couldn’t in good conscience link any of these to my readers.

My PSA for the day is, please be careful when you’re ordering stuff online from retailers you’ve never heard of. Do your homework. Google their brand name, check for reviews on independent rating sites, and stay clear of anything that is resoundingly negatively on Better Business Bureau website. If you’re able to, make your purchase through Paypal, as they offer some limited buyer protections, and they will help to get you back your money.

Another thing I noticed was that a few retailers I quite like, such as Hips and Curves and Lane Bryant had a lot of discontinued styles. There was no notice as to if or when things were going to be back in stock, which was disappointing.

If you’ve managed to find any great places to buy bigger cup size/plus size lingerie (not just animal print lingerie), click the Contact Us link on the page footer and shoot me an e-mail! I’d love to make this a more inclusive resource if possible.

Okay, enough yammering. On to the lingerie!

My first pick for this list is the Goddess Kayla Underwire Banded Bra. Reminiscent of other Goddess and Elomi styles I have reviewed previously, this full-coverage underwire bra comes in some awesome animal print options, such as tiger (they call it ‘multi’), and a leopard-inspired print called ‘kitty seal’.

Olga, a brand I’ve always liked for their attention to back smoothing puts out their Women’s Flirty Deep Plunge Underwire Contour Bra in three colours, including ‘Brushed animal print’.

Lilyette by Bali puts out one of the best minimizer bras around in both a zebra print and your standard nondescript feline print (called Feeling Fabulous).

If you don’t want to forgo your animal print when you put on a minimizer bra, Chantelle’s C Magnifique comes in two animal print options.

For days when you just want to lounge and are looking for something easy yet supportive to wear, Hanes Women’s Comfort Evolution Bra has got your back (and front).

One the best sports bras for large breasts the Panache Women’s Underwire Sports Bra remains a popular option almost a decade after it came onto the market. I’m so glad to see that they’ve embraced their animal side.

If you’re looking for a hot bustier to help express your inner animal, consider Seven ’til Midnight Women’s Lace Satin Bustier, which comes in an attention-grabbing leopard print.

Spicylingerie.com has a super-sexy bustier and panty set, again in leopard. I love the detail on the cups and open cut-out back.

Another pick from Spicylingerie that I liked is their Plus Size Sexy Catch Garter Long Sleeve Teddy. You could wear it on its own (no support, ladies) or you could put a bra on underneath and create a really hot look. There’s something about the casual-sexy vibe I get from this teddy that I really like.

Coquette Women’s Plus Size Leopard Print Babydoll And G-String Set has a great leopard-print babydoll with a built in bra for support that would make any woman look fierce.

One of the rare non-leopard print lingerie options I would actually consider is Hips & Curves’ Animal Print Mesh & Lace Babydoll. Finally, some zebra print! At the time of writing, this one was out of stock, but hopefully it will be back soon.

I think I’ve identified an underserved market—lingerie and bras in giraffe print! I know, the giraffe doesn’t evoke the image of fierceness and dominance that the big cats do, but I think the color combination would be flattering on a lot of different skin tones.
